It was just outside the duelling hall, the corridor with its rounded arched ceilings, small painted glass windows and benches that invited students to sit and relax between classes. There were a fair number of students out in the corridor, some licking the wounds they had received from the duelling area, others chatting with friends while eating their boxed lunches. Stormy grey eyes followed the hand movements as a boy sitting cross legged on the stone floor lifted a brownie to his lips. He wondered what it tasted like, if it was moist or the edges were crusted from baking, if he had bought it from the town or took it from the dinning hall. Each footstep Riddle took only progressed his thoughts about that single dessert as his stomach grumbled in annoyance. It had been since this morning that he had ate but as a school house head boy, his duties came before his comfort. However... Riddle's black heeled shoes stopped beside the group of four chatting near the wall, a hand rested on his hip and his eyes were the only thing to move down to their level, staring aggressively at the lunches they all had. One by one, each of the four from the Savanaclaw house looked up at the head boy. Their conversation died and their tanned skin paled at the sight of Riddle.
"Y-Yes, Rosehearts?" The voice of one turned his wavering attention from the brownie to the one speaking and his eyes narrowed, causing them all to flinch. "Is there a table here?" He asked, not expecting an answer, but getting one anyways.
"No?" Another boy with long blonde braided hair replied. Riddle wanted to place his hand against his forehead but he simply resigned himself to a silent breath instead. "Then what makes this a cafeteria, I wonder?" He was trying to get the dimwitted fools to realise that no one was allowed to have meals outside the cafeteria, a rule that wasn't always regarded but Riddle didn't like temptation hanging in front of him like a carrot and if he had to suffer, so did others. The boys exchanged glances then looked down at their boxed lunches. "Just the food."
"But we were hungry!" Another exclaimed in a desperate sounding voice, his body rocking back and forth while his tail wagged nervously. No one liked Riddles punishments.
"W-We could give you our lunches?" Riddles eyebrows raised at that. No one usually just gave in, but these pack animals seemed to understand what was coming for them, clearly their head of house knew how to make people listen to him... the scoundrel. Riddle looked to the left, seeing no one paying attention, then looked to the right, and didn't see a soul in sight. Thrusting his hands out, the boys caught on instantly and nearly tripped over themselves to pile their lunches into his arms. "Thank you, Rosehearts! Thank you so much!" They exclaimed, hurrying off to their house, leaving Riddle standing alone in the corridor with now way too much food. He glanced around again but no one had even made a glance in his direction. Taking that as a sign, he quickly walked down the rest of the corridor and turned into a stairwell. It was narrow, but had low traffic as the tower was used to hold storage equipment. Sitting ratherly awkwardly on a step a few stairs up, Riddle set the newly acquired ransoms beside him and opened the first lid. Inside there was a half eaten sandwich which he ignored, a sliced up apple, which Riddle took a slice of a popped the end into his mouth. Setting that box aside, he opened the next one which only had a couple pieces of cooked meat inside. The third one wasn't any better, but when Riddle opened the forth, the mother load stared back up at him. Two brownies, dark chocolate with a swirl of white, the edges were cooked perfectly, and he knew that this was taken from dinner last night. Normally one wasn't allowed to bring food out of the dinning hall, but some did it anyways since some students got hungry more often then the meals were provided. Riddle was one of them, but he was picky with what he ate. Breaking off the bit that had touched the boys mouth, he finished chewing and swallowing the apple slice before biting down on a corner of the dessert. A warm homely sensation drifted through him and a low hum escaped from his throat. He chewed and brought his hands to his chest, taking in every sensation, every aspect of the brownie.

A gloved hand snapped up, magic following his motions as he blocked another attack from the Ignihyde leader. Blue fire grazed along the edge of his barrier and his other hand thrust out, vines ripping up from the arena floor, chasing after their target. Despite the intensity of their heat, the fire was unable to stop the rush, too much happening too quickly. The vines threw him backwards, causing him to land on the floor, a small groan emitted. Malleus' eyes narrowed, the corners of his lips turning up, pleased with the victory. After they shook hands, a silent pact of friendship, they departed, Malleas slipping off his cape as he walked, a bit tired from the magical workout but satisfied with the results.
He ignored the stares of the other students, intending to leave but a thin eyebrow raised as he heard loud voices down the hall, the few students lingering having looked as well. Riddle, he thought with an almost exasperated sigh. He walked over, seeing far too much food for one small queen and knew it must have come from those that had retreated.
"You'll start putting on weight if you eat all of that, your highness," he said, as way of greeting, glowing green eyes looking him up and down. He brushed his hair out of his eyes, a small smirk on decorating his features, his signature hat held with his cape as it had fallen off during his battle. "Or perhaps the temptation of desserts is too much for one such as yourself?" A cheap taunt but it was entirely true, considering how many Riddle consumed in a day.

Eyes snapped open at the sound of the voice that broke the silent chewing and general calm atmosphere of the stairwell. When his gaze found the figure leaning around the doorway, watching the royal sitting and eating his spoils, Riddle's cheeks warmed. Carefully setting down the brownie, Riddle attempted to regain some kind of dignity, making sure that his back was straight, his chin always up and full of confidence even when working with something that was below him. Unfortunately, he couldn't say the same about Malleus, the head boy of Diasomnia. If anyone could convince Riddle that he was below anyone, it would be Malleus.
Swallowing the rest of his treat, he could feel the satisfaction in the bite ware off, leaving him with a tangy chocolate coating on his tongue that made him want a sip of water. "I have no idea what you are talking about, Diasomnia trash." He spoke elegantly as he carried the lunch boxes past the witch to the nearest bin where he watched his dessert fall into the pit of filth. Spinning around, his cape brushed the floor as he moved and he placed his hands on his hips. "See? No evidence at all." He continued, even though there was evidence, a tiny bit, stuck to his cheek. Students walked by, each time eyeing the pair who rarely spoke to each other. When head boys talked, it usually meant business, or insults, but none of that was happening now, at least Riddle hoped. Looking at the horned boy, his grey eyes couldn't help but linger on his counterparts soft lips and sharp eyes. His regal chin lowered slightly as his thoughts drifted from the present to times alone, together. Two years it had been since that faithful night, and he wasn't sure what to think of Malleus anymore. One day... one day was the answer to everything, one day they'd be free, one day they'd be who they'd want to be, one day no one would look twice at them, one day they wouldn't have to lie. But that was so far from now, he was almost getting sick of being around Malleus if it wasn't in their private rooms. He didn't like having to pretend the other was a stranger. "Now," Trying to put distance between them, Riddle looked for a way out of this conversation, "I must go..." He glanced towards the duelling area doors, then back at the slightly out of breath fellow peer. "I must duel before my next period, and since you have already, you probably don't want to duel me, correct?"

Malleus watched, amusement shinning in his eyes as Riddle removed the remaining food, no doubt trying to make a point. Student continued to walk by, each eyeing them but in the break between them, just as a pair were exiting the duelling hall, the Diasomnia Leader reached out a gloved hand, removing the lingering evidence from Riddle's cheek, raising his finger to his lips to clean it with his tongue. "I think I can go another round, certainly against you, Rosehearts," he said, turning on his heel to head back into the arena. He glanced over his shoulder, a knowing smirk on his face. "Unless you can't handle me?" He didn't wait for an answer, instead walking back into the arena.
Of course the only open space was the centre but he didn't mind, throwing his cape and hat onto one of the chairs before stepping out into the open space. "Now then, your highness, will I actually have to try today?" He asked, brimming with confidence. Only the teachers had ever bested him and, even then, it had been a very close match, Crowley giving him his most thorough trouncing but entirely in a private match. Malleus didn't showcase all of his skills and certainly not to the other students. But that didn't mean he couldn't play with Riddle a bit.

Lips parted and his breath hitched when a finger brushed his cheek, a daring move for a public meeting. But that hitched, excited breath, fell out of him a moment later as he let out a long sigh, watching with regret as Malleus walked to the doors to fight Riddle once and for all. A climatic fight that Riddle had been avoiding since they met each other, which had been the night Riddle came to the school. His shoulders sank but as soon as students rounded the corner ahead, he jerked himself up again and walked proudly into the duelling hall after Malleus.
Once inside, Riddle looked around at the large space. Students paired up against each other were throwing magic left and right, sparking the area in bright colours. Shouts and grunts, blades clashing, footsteps and yells, there was so much going on, it was no wonder why Riddle avoided this place. He didn't need to fight to prove himself strong, but Malleus wanted to see it, and wouldn't let it down if Riddle walked away... no... it would be the students who looked towards the pair when they walked in that wouldn't forget. Walking the taller of the two toss their cape and hat off to the side, Riddle remained in his and simply walked towards the middle where the crowd had parted at the sight of the head of Diasomnia. A few characters cheered when they saw Malleus, enjoying the idea that the boy was finally going to show up the house that Riddle belonged in. It was an unspoken conflict between all houses, an idea that if the head was defeated by another, they would be seen as a less powerful house, which was why no one but Malleus and Leona participated in inner house duelling.
He didn't like the way everyone looked at him, a sweaty, dirty bunch of students, waiting, watching for Riddle to fall after one hit. He found himself glaring at everyone who made eye contact with him until his gaze rested on Malleus. Raising his right hand, Riddle wiggled a little, adjusting his shoulders, loosening up. "If we must fight each other, I guess-" Suddenly the floor shook as his oversized Rosemary axe hit the ground at his outstretched hand, having appeared over a foot above the ground, the weight of it was enough to throw some students nearest into a stumbling mess. A couple fell over and the room had grown silent, Riddle didn't fight, so rarely anyone had seen his axe before. Lifting it, despite his size, he took it into both hands, spinning it around him the length of the pole and the size of the blade, licking at the wall of students, putting more space between him and the crowd. "I will have to honour you with my attention, peasant."

Malleus watched the arc of the axe, a weapon he had only seen from a distance and one that had bested many before now. He could feel his heart skip a beat and let out a breath, knowing he would have to fight harder than he normally would. "You honour me, your highness," he replied to the taunt, entirely serious, despite the fact it would be taken as a mocking statement by the student body. Speaking of, he didn't enjoy their eyes on him. If anything, it angered him, that they would dare look upon their own moment as though it was a spectacle to partake in.
He arced one of his hands through the hair, green flames following as his weapon appeared, the threads glowing with magical energy on the spindle, giving it a quick spin before hitting the end against the ground. Vines shot up around them, their thorns extremely sharp but instead of attacking Riddle, they formed a barrier around them and the student body. He ignored their shouts, letting the wall build to block their vision while they remained in the middle, the area much darker, despite the top being open. "Now we don't need to hide." His weapon became wreathed in green flame, the fire trailing behind as he swung it behind him, stance widening just a touch as he prepared himself, eyes gleaming with excitement. "Show me your strength."

As the weapon in Malleus' grip materialised, Riddle's eyes narrowed and his expression became serious, he never expected such a show from his partner but the last time they had fought was in a control environment with teachers and students. Here, students just watched but Riddle could see the look in his companion's eye when the thorns took hold of the circle. At first, Riddle had flinched until he saw it not attempting to attack from behind, but rather putting a sight barrier between them and the onlookers. Protests could be heard but the walls continued to climb until even the highest jumpers couldn't look in and no one would attempt to touch the deadly spikes. Not as much light came in from the opening at the top, leaving them in shadow until Malleus covered his staff in green flames, a colour that Riddle had to have grown used to over the years when he used to think it was ugly. Now he saw Malleus as the plant that Riddle, the flower, couldn't exist without.
Excitement spread between the two but Riddle didn't make a move right away, he took one step out, sliding his foot out, his eyes on the floor as he tapped it with his foot a couple times. "Thick enough I assume- good." Riddle grunted as he lifted the full weight of it up above his head and swung it down, hard. The blade hit the ground and wind sliced through the air, it cut the ground straight from the blade and outward towards Malleus while spirals of wind sliced up into the air, aiming to cut anything in its path. When the wind hit the walls, the vines that were cut fell around them to the ground.

Malleus' eyes narrowed, ready for a fight or a more close encounter with the blade. Instead, the blade created wind that went right towards him, small tornados that were deadly if he got too close. Not only that but the weapon could most certainly cause some damage, regardless of his accelerated healing. It seemed that Riddle wanted to keep him busy, something he wasn't going to fall for. His eyes glowed brightly before he vanished, reappearing behind his opponent. One of the tornados came dangerously close but he slipped past it, feeling the intensity of it for only a brief moment but he took his chance, shooting his staff out, intending to catch Riddle's axe and disarm him.

Feeling the movement behind him, Riddle looked up to see that his rival was gone from his past place. His body tensed and he lifted his axe to swing it around at Malleus but the staff protested against the movement causing Riddle to jump away, putting some space between them but still keeping a hand around the pole of the axe. "So you think that without this, I have nothing?" He was partly right, Riddle's main weapon was this axe but he wasn't a witch or fae, he wasn't skilled in magic the same way others were. One on one fights weren't easy for him since he moved slowly, trying to ware down his attacker before hitting them with all he had. There was an easy eight feet between them, enough space for Riddle to spin, swinging his axe with him in a circular horizontal motion to cut Malleus another way, fortunately for the fae, his axe couldn't produce wind without hitting something, so the attack was mainly just dodging the blade.

As Riddle put distance between them, a touch of annoyance flashed in Malleus but he didn't react. Riddle may move slower but his instincts were as quick as his wit. The axe came spinning and he teleported again, putting further distance between them. Assessing the situation for only a moment, he let the tip of his staff touch the floor, green flames springing up, creating a barrier between them. "I think if I relieve you of your weapon, you'll be at my mercy," he replied from the behind the flames, eyes glowing as he used his magic. "Not that I think you'd mind that," he added, a touch of humour in his voice. "I don't wish to hurt you, Riddle, so you can still yield while maintaining your dignity." He was a bit concerned that if he fought harder, he could hurt the young queen, something he very much wanted to avoid.

The boy teleported away again and a huff escaped his lips as he came to a full stop, slamming the blade down on the ground, letting the wind ripple out and nick at the flames that appeared between them. The two elements danced for a moment before the wind was swallowed up by the air. Riddle could see the eyes of his partner through the fire, the intensity that would often send shivers down his spine, he knew exactly what kind of person he was dealing with. This was the fae king, and nothing seemed to slow him down, not even this school and its rules, everyone was at a mercy to Malleus, but it made Riddle only want to fight it harder. He let a scowl appear on his lips as he regarded the concerned comment from his heart but he chose to ignore it. "You know it is often believed that the villains of our stories are cowards, we would rather run away than die in the face of our enemy, but princes continue to fight regardless of their possible downfall... so unfortunately, for you, I have to agree with those idiots." Riddle swung his axe up and over his shoulder, cutting the fire in half, the wind bit at the flames, attack it, their own duel of elements and the queen abandoned his axe in the ground, stepping on a wind blade to boost himself into the air, jumping over the wall where it was the lowest and throwing himself at Malleus. Riddle could feel his body begin to collide with the others and he raised a fist, a very unexpected move for the regal one, balling his hand into a fist before aiming a punch at Malleus' cheek.

Malleus' eyes narrowed, knowing something was coming and let out a breath, focusing his magic in his staff. Was Riddle just going to charge at him? Unlikely. If anything, he would use the wind as a distraction and come at him from another direction. The wind picked up again, cutting through the fire and his eyes found the axe...without anyone attached to it. His eyes flicked up, just in time to throw one hand up but Riddle was faster, colliding with him. It only took a single beat for a punch to hit him right across the face, making his eyes widen with shock as they fell to the ground.
"Did you just punch me?" He asked, disbelief colouring his voice. This wasn't a magic fight at all and Malleus abandoned his staff on the ground, grabbing Riddle the shoulders and, as he had a hundred times, rolling them over so the queen was beneath him. Malleus flicked his head back, trying to get his bangs out of his face as he looked down at the red head. "That was an exceedingly cheap tactic," he said, unable to believe that the ever regal boy would do that. Instead of getting angry, a smirk spread across his features as he leaned in closer, a certain deadly playfulness in his actions. No one could see them and they were finally fighting however they wanted. "Shall I show you a gift in return?"
Without waiting for Riddle's answer, he let his wings burst from his shoulders, uncaring of the damage they did to his clothing. Great feathery wings spread fully, entirely black with deep green undertones and strength visible in each movement. Whatever light above was blocked by them, only the green flames illuminating them both. "Is it wrong for me to want something other than fighting at the moment?" Malleus asked, his grip on Riddle's shoulders relaxing. Maybe he could teleport them both to his dormitory for something a bit more interesting but it would, no doubt, send the other students into a panic.

Riddle allowed a laugh to escape that burst out after he heard the disbelief in Malleus' tone. Yes he did indeed punch Malleus across the face, an act that didn't exactly mean he'd win, especially when Malleus grabbed his shoulders and rolled Riddles smaller form under him. The stone floor was cracked and uncomfortable but he was luckily still wearing enough layers to protect himself against the discomfort while he remained pinned. The two looked into each others eyes and from this angle Riddle could really see the glow of green eyes staring down at him from between long bangs that were desperate to hang in front of his face. Meanwhile the red head squirmed gently, trying to at least get a bit more comfortable before this fight was decided between the two. Malleus had Riddle pinned, and Riddle only held unnatural strength when holding his axe, there wasn't much he could do now so he resigned himself to what would come next. Yet he did not expect what did happen, eyes widened when familiar wings broke loose from the folds of fabric and bits of clothing were caught in the flames that licked at the pair, the wind spreading wide so a great shadow could form over Riddle and the wall of thorns behind him.
A blush threatened to show through from where Riddle was shielding his face with a single arm, allowing only his eyes to peek out the top. His gaze went to the wall where he knew there was probably a growing crowd on the other side, all waiting for the decided winner to reveal themselves soon. If Malleus had what he craved, they would surely be here for awhile, long enough for some teacher to probably try to break in to make sure no one was dead. Keeping that in mind, Riddle's stomach muscles tensed as he lifted himself up into a partial sitting position, enough to take Malleus by around the neck with his hands, his fingers lacing behind his neck and drag him down into a fiery kiss.

Malleus felt the arms around his neck and let himself be pulled down, groaning into the kiss, the cold exterior giving way to the beast that was concealed beneath. His wings arched enough so it was almost like another shield against the world, his hands on either side of Riddle, keeping himself up as he kissed him back. After a long moment, he pulled away, barely moving back as his lips moved to the side of Riddle's face, brushing, his actions conveying his longing. "It's only been a few days and already I crave you," he admitted, voice breathy and almost needy. "You destroy me, Riddle." To hell with it. He wasn't going to let his urges wait any longer and he kissed his lover again, magic building inside as he teleported them far away from the arena, to his personal quarters.
Where Riddle had large windows and bright colours, Malleus' room was darker and much more gothic, the rather large bed draped with black curtains, used to keep the light from waking him. He was still kissing Riddle as they sunk into the much softer bed, hands now freely wandering. "I don't like to be kept waiting," he breathed, very glad for the real privacy. His magic would fade in the arena anyway and hopefully the teachers would be smart enough to realize they had simply teleported.

A few days... enough for both members of this secret romance to recover and try to regain their independence. Though they often spoke of times after school they would spend days in bed, just being with each other, no crown to wear, no title to keep, just them. A few days was all they could usually handle before one of them caved and it seemed like it was both this time. Riddle nodded, feeling his mouth become dry from the lack of Malleus' attention inside it. He licked his lips, and when the mention of destroying came whispering between them, his stomach clenched and his heart refused to slow. Villains, they were villains, he kept reminding himself.
They disappeared from the area and it was almost like the spell just broke. The room could finally see inside the thorn walls but as they collapsed to the ground like trees falling in a forest, no one could make out any sign of the two.
Riddle could feel the soft mattress under his body as they landed in the room, Malleus forever a skilled teleporter even with distraction all around him. The queen found himself sighing to the breathless remark by his lover, his own hands responding by tangling themselves into the dark locks of the being above him. Fingers danced up to the horns that forever remained on his head and the pads of his fingers slowly smoothed down the length of their bumps and arches to the base and back up again. "I guess I won then?" Riddle smirked with a bit of his tongue sticking out like the cat he really was. The queen got his knee up between the two and shoved the witch off of him, their bodies resting on the soft bedding that caused both to sink in like quick sand. Riddle crawled to the edge, holding a finger up. "As decided winner, I have to remind you that waiting is exactly what you'll have to do, dragon." He said as he began to remove the cloak from his clothing. Malleus knew Riddle hated whenever his clothes were ripped or wrecked. He let that fall to the floor then looked down at his boots, noticing something very displeasing about the edge of his left one, how there was a bit of burnt leather singed by the flames. He chose to ignore it for now, removing them so he wouldn't stress about it. Done with what really mattered, Riddle crawled back onto the bed and knelt waiting for his dragon to attack. What game would they play, he wondered? Prince against dragon? Fae against human? Two royals in a forbidden romance... wait that was the truth. They were alone, they could be themselves, they could be happy, and he wanted to see Crowley's smile as well as his body. "Unless this fight isn't over?" Riddle thought out loud, tapping his index finger to his chin in thought.
